Mr. Ratan N Tata holds a B.Sc. (Architecture) degree from Cornell University, USA and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, USA. He joined the Tata Group in 1962 and is the Chairman of the Tata Group of companies and Tata Sons Ltd., the holding company for majority of Tata Companies. As Chairman of Tata Industries Limited since 1981, he is responsible for transforming the company into a Group strategy think-tank and a promoter of new ventures in high technology businesses. He was honored by the Government of India with the Padma Bhushan in January 2000 and awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree in Business Administration by the Ohio State University. Mr. Tata has been on the Company's Board since August 1981 and has spent more than 13 years in an executive capacity and is actively involved with product development and other business strategies pursued by the Company. One of his achievements include designing and developing India's first indigenous car - the "Indica" which has been recognized as one of the strongest brands to have been created of late.
