Ramona has over 18 years of consulting experience with healthcare provider organizations. She has helped clients achieve millions of dollars of results in healthcare operations areas including non-labor cost reduction workforce productivity supply revenue enhancement and performance management systems. Ramona has worked with an extensive number of healthcare organizations in the supply chain consulting area including over 100 hospitals and five group purchasing organizations. She has extensive experience in non-labor expense management including physician preference supplies medical-surgical supplies group purchasing organizations contracting and purchased service contracts.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Ramona was a Principal at Wellspring Partners now a Huron Consulting Group Practice. While there she led the supply chain management practice focusing on three main areas of supply chain financial management: non-labor cost reduction supply chain revenue enhancement and business process redesign. Previously she served as Healthcare Consulting Partner with Arthur Andersen LLP in charge of its national hospital supply chain management practice.

Served as Engagement Partner at a five-hospital system operating with a $500M budget and a non-labor spend of approximately $200M. During a six-month timeframe $22M in non-labor savings were identified $15M of which were implemented. Costs were cut in the following areas: Pharmacy Cath Lab Surgery Medical Supplies Food Contract Services and Employee Benefits.
Served as Engagement Partner at a three hospital system operating with a $400M budget and non-labor spend of $200M. Engaged to implement a minimum of $7.9M in non-labor expenses in the following areas: Surgical Services Medical Surgical Supplies Cardiovascular Supplies Pharmaceuticals and Hospital Pricing. Ramona led the team that during the first five months implemented more than $9.5 million in savings.
Directed supply chain cost reduction projects at over 100 hospitals to aggressively reduce costs by up to 15% in the supply and purchased services areas. Tactics included contract renegotiation product standardization value analysis supply utilization price benchmarking and group purchasing organization utilization.
Reduced annual non-labor costs by $1M to $20M for numerous not-for-profit and for-profit hospitals and health systems. Managed projects that drastically cut costs in the following areas: pharmacy cath lab surgical services medical surgical food and nutrition laundry and linen telecommunications energy management office supplies and equipment physician contracts transcription employee benefits insurance human resource vendor contracts staffing agency contracts etc. Savings were verified back to purchase orders and invoices to ensure realized savings.
