Ralph E. Whatley, M.D., will serve as the Chair for Carilion Clinic’s Department of Medicine. He currently serves as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University and as the Chief of Internal Medicine at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in North Carolina. An Asheboro, N.C., native, he earned both his bachelor’s degree and medical degree at Duke University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston and a clinical and research fellowship in pulmonary medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He has over 20 original publications, more than 15 abstracts and three textbook chapters. |
