The scientific career of Dr. Ralph Bradshaw, a key advisor to CVBT, spans over 35 years. He is recognized as one of the world's foremost experts on protein biochemistry. Currently a professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at University of California, Irvine, Dr. Bradshaw was Chair of the Department of Biological Chemistry at UC-Irvine for 10 years.
Dr. Bradshaw was the first president and founding father of the Protein Society, an organization of several thousand scientists dedicated to the study and analysis of proteins. In 1995, he was elected president of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), one of the largest and most visible scientific societies in the United States.
In almost 300 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, Dr. Bradshaw has made important and significant contributions to our knowledge of the structure and function of proteins, and in particular, polypeptide growth factors. Prior to coming to California, Dr. Bradshaw served for 14 years as Professor of Biological Chemistry at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Duke University in 1966, and his B.A. from Colby College in Maine.
