Quinn Sypniewski Biography :

Transactions:

Quinn Sypniewski was selected in the 5th round as the 166th overall pick by the Ravens in the 2006 NFL Draft...Was the 2nd of 2 (S Dawan Landry) 5th-round selections for Baltimore.

Highlights:

Became the 1st player in Colorado history to receive a 6th year of eligibility when he was hampered by injuries from 2003-04 and was then granted a rare 6th-year medical hardship from the NCAAin 2005...Holds the school career-record by appearing in 55 games, topping the previous mark of 50 by WR Derek McCoy (2000-03)...Teamed with Joe Klopfenstein to provide the Buffaloes with a TE tandem that combined for 62 receptions for 915 yards and 9 TDs in 2005, which was the best production the Buffaloes received at that position since the tandem of Jon Embree (51 for 680 and 3 scores) and Ed Reinhardt (14 for 190, 2 TDs) totaled 65 catches for 870 yards and 5 scores during 1984.

Pro Career:

"We need a point-of-attack guy, and we think Quinn can do that," said general manager Ozzie Newsome. "The interesting thing about him is that he was at Colorado for 6 years. When you look at him, he probably can grow. So even though we're starting him out at TE, if he continues to grow, he might be a guy that could be a guy like (Denver's) Matt Lepsis and move to tackle."

College Career:

2005: All-Big 12 Conference honorable mention...Listed as the most underrated prospect at his position by The NFL Draft Report...Played in all 13 games (7 starts), sharing the TE position with Joe Klopfenstein...Named Offensive Player of the Game vs. Texas A&M and Missouri...Finished with a career-high 29 receptions for 447 yards (15.4 avg.) and 5 TDs...Also made a pair of special teams tackles... Had 8 catches for 20 yards or longer...Of the 48 passes targeted to Sypniewski, he converted 22 of his 29 receptions for 1st downs, including 3 on 3rd-down...The Colorado coaches named him the recipient of the Tyronee "Tiger" Bussey Award for perseverance over adversity, injury or illness...Accepted invitation to participate in the Las Vegas All-American Classic All-Star Game, catching a 24-yard pass.

2004: Saw action in the 1st 3 games of the season, but was sidelined the rest of the year after a lower-leg fracture...Caught 3 passes for 28 yards (9.3 avg.) and made 2 solo tackles with a pair of knockdowns on special teams.

2003: Only appeared in the UCLA and Florida State contests, but was unable to play in any other games due to a stress fracture in his toe...Finished with 2 receptions for 9 yards, 1 in each game he appeared.

2002: Played in all 13 games, starting 7...Gained 42 yards on 6 receptions (7.0 avg.)...Caught a 2- point conversion in a crucial OT win at Missouri...Played an additional 57 plays on FG/PAT unit.

2000: Lined up as the 2nd-team TE throughout the season, playing all 11 games and making 2 starts the last 2 games of the year (Iowa State, Nebraska) when CU came out in a 2-TE set...Had 2 catches for 12 yards, both coming against Texas A&M in CU?s 1st win of the year...Added 2 knockdown blocks on special teams duty.
