As senior vice president and chief financial officer, Pieter Van der Vorst has worldwide responsibility for Sybase, Inc.'s financial planning and analysis, taxation, treasury, controllership, investor relations, IT, manufacturing and facilities functions. Prior to his appointment to this role, Mr. Van der Vorst served most recently as corporate controller for the company. Additional roles at Sybase included assistant corporate controller, intercontinental region controller and director of tax. He joined Sybase in 1991.
Mr. Van der Vorst's career spans over 20 years in the high-tech, consumer and corporate arena, with solid experience working in both mid-size firms and large companies with multiple product lines and business groups. Prior to joining Sybase, he was tax director for Cetus Corporation in Emeryville, CA. He has also held the position of tax director at Spectra-Physics, Inc. in San Jose, CA, worked in international tax at Levi Strauss & Company in San Francisco, CA, and international tax at PricewaterhouseCoopers in San Francisco, CA.
Mr. Van der Vorst earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from San Francisco State University and is a certified public accountant. |
