Pierre Lapalme was elected a director in April 2000. His term as director will expire at the Annual Meeting. Mr. Lapalme served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ethypharm Inc. (North America), a global drug delivery systems company, from 1995 through July 2004. He served as non-executive Chairman of the Board of DiagnoCure Inc. from 1995 until March 2005. He is a director of BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., International Wex Technologies and Bioxel Pharma Inc. and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Pharmaceutical Council U.S.A. and of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Canada (PMAC). From 1979 to 1990, Mr. Lapalme was Chief Executive Officer and President of Rhone-Poulenc Canada Inc. and Rhone-Poulenc Pharmaceuticals North America. He was appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager Rhone-Poulenc Rorer North America in 1990 and served in that position until 1994.
