Mr. Gonzalez joined RatnerPrestia after previously working for the firm as a summer associate. He is a registered Patent Attorney and he graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law where he was admitted as a Dean's Scholar. After graduating with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Lehigh University, Mr. Gonzalez worked for six years as a research chemist for a joint venture between two major pharmaceutical corporations. He assisted in developing pharmaceutical "switch products" that brought to market over-the-counter forms of prescription medications. His responsibilities included developing new laboratory test methods for active ingredients as well as the myriad of impurities of interest to FDA. He also performed data analysis and wrote development reports that were filed in the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control sections of New Drug Applications. In addition, he was an intern with the corporation's large in-house patent group where he drafted patent applications, responded to office actions, and participated in market clearance authorization reviews. While working as a chemist, Mr. Gonzalez also completed a M.S. in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs from Temple University's School of Pharmacy. His in-depth experience and education in the technical and regulatory aspects of the pharmaceutical industry means he understands the complex challenges of the business. Clients inside and outside of the pharmaceutical sector benefit from Mr. Gonzalez's first hand understanding of the inventive process and the importance of protecting the resulting intellectual property. Mr. Gonzalez was honored at graduation as a member of the Order of the Coif and by Seton Hall University's Center for Social Justice as an Outstanding Clinical Practitioner for his contributions to their public interest clinical programs. He also served as vice-president of the law school's Intellectual Property Law Association and was a member of its Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law.
