Mr. Schaenman is the founder and president of TriData Corporation, a division of SPC specializing in studies of fire protection, emergency medical services (EMS) and EMS management, hazardous materials, rescue/emergency management; and the development of practical indicators to measure the performance of state and local government emergency services. During his distinguished career, Mr. Schaenman has held management positions with the U.S. Fire Administration/FEMA, The Urban Institute, and Bellcomm, Inc., where he supervised computer technology studies for the manned space flight program. He also served on the NASA panel formulation criteria for spacecraft computers where he developed forecasts of aerospace computer technology. An internationally recognized expert in the fields of public safety research and management, fire protection management, and local government emergency service analysis, Mr. Schaenman has authored and coauthored several books and numerous articles and reports on these and related topics. His works include the book Proving Public Fire Education Works, which appears as chapters in the National Fire Prevention Administration Handbook on the same subject. Mr. Schaenman has been called on to provide expert testimony to several congressional committees relating to the fire problem in the United States. Mr. Schaenman holds a bachelor's degree in engineering and liberal arts (magna cum laude) from Queens College, a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Columbia University, a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, and a professional degree of electrical engineer from Columbia University. He is the recipient of several scholarships and fellowships, including a Howard Hughes full graduate fellowship. Mr. Schaenman is an active member in the International Association of Electrical Engineers, the Association of Computing Machinery, the National Fire Protection Association, and the National Association of State Fire Marshals.
