Philip A. Teel is corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s Ship Systems sector, the largest builder of non-nuclear ships for the U.S. Navy, headquartered in Pascagoula, Miss. Teel also serves on the company's corporate policy council.
Ship Systems, which currently employs more than 17,000 shipbuilding professionals, primarily in Mississippi and Louisiana, is one of the nation's leading full-service systems companies for the design, engineering, construction, and life-cycle support of major surface ships for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and international navies, and for commercial vessels of all types.
Teel was previously sector vice president, Airborne Early Warning & Electronic Warfare Systems, at Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector in Bethpage, NY. Teel joined Northrop Grumman in 2000. He previously served as Integrated Systems' sector vice president of materiel, and before that assignment, he was sector vice president of program operations.
Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Teel was vice president of Navy and maritime programs for Raytheon's Aircraft Integration Systems. From 1987 to 1993, he served Raytheon as program manager, program director, and integrated technical and management team leader for various large defense systems.
He began his career as an employee of the Naval Air Systems Command, where he held positions in engineering and program management.
Teel earned a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a master of science degree in engineering management from George Washington University.
