Philip Odeen Biography :

Philip A. Odeen is the non executive Chairman of Reynolds and Reynolds, an automotive technology and software company.

Odeen retired as chairman of TRW in 2002. Prior to becoming chairman, he was a member of the company's management committee and served as the senior representative in Washington D.C., responsible for government relations, business development and selected international activities of the Aerospace and Information Systems sector.

From 1997 to 1999, Odeen was responsible for TRW's Systems and Information Technology business, a $3 billion provider of value-added solutions using information technology systems and services, and systems engineering and analysis. Odeen joined the company in 1997 with the acquisition of BDM, where he served as president and chief executive officer, directing the growth and evolution of the multinational information technology firm. Under his leadership, BDM grew from less than $300 million in revenue to more than $1 billion in five years.

Before joining BDM as president in 1992, Odeen was vice chairman, management consulting services, at Coopers & Lybrand, where he directed a practice of 2,500 consultants in 30 cities across the country. Earlier, he served 13 years as managing partner of the firm's public sector practice.

He has served in senior positions with Office of the Secretary of Defense and the National Security Council staff. He was principal deputy assistant secretary of defense (systems analysis) and later led the defense and arms control staff for then-National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger.

Odeen is active is various government advisory groups, primarily in the defense and national security area. In 1997, then Secretary of Defense William Cohen selected him to chair the National Defense Panel, and is a member and former vice chairman of the Defense Science Board and a member of the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel. He also has chaired various Defense Science Board task forces on the defense industry, logistics and outsourcing as well as the 2004 Summer Study on Post-Conflict Operations.

He serves on the boards of four other New York Stock Exchange companies, the AES Corporation, Avaya Inc., Convergys Corp., and Reynolds and Reynolds Company. He is also active in business and community activities and chairs the Henry M. Jackson Foundation, which supports defense related medical research by the DoD Uniformed Services Medical University.
