Dr. Elias is the Chairman of our Scientific Advisory Board and a Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Elias is a pioneering researcher of the epidermal permeability barrier. Dr. Elias and his colleagues at the Veterans Administration Medical Center are studying the epidermal barrier for its function in adults, premature babies and in aging skin. Dr. Elias is a staff physician at the VAMC Dermatology Service, as well as the head of its Dermatology Research Laboratory. Dr. Elias has received many honors including the Robert Chesebrough Gold Medal for Research in 1990. He is a Fellow of the California Academy of Sciences; he has been elected to both the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the American Association of Professors; and is an editor for several scientific journals |
