Peter F. Drake, Ph.D. has focused on raising capital for and investing in healthcare and biotechnology companies for 20 years. He is currently the Managing General Partner of Mayflower Partners, a healthcare investment fund.

After receiving his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Neurobiology from Bryn Mawr College in 1980, he spent three years as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Developmental Biology and Anatomy at Case Western Reserve University. He joined the Wall Street investment banking firm of Kidder, Peabody & Co. as a Biotechnology Analyst in 1983, becoming a partner in 1986. In 1988, Peter co-founded Vector Securities International, an investment banking firm that specialized in raising capital for emerging healthcare companies. Vector Securities International was purchased in 1999 by Prudential Securities, Inc. While at Vector Securities International Peter was involved in raising $6.2 Billion in 130 public offerings and $1.6 Billion in 52 private placement transactions. Additionally, Vector served as an advisor in 111 merger and alliance transactions in the healthcare area. Peter retired from Prudential Securities, Inc. as a Managing Director in the Equity Research Department in 2002.

In 1993 Peter co-founded two healthcare investment funds - Vector Fund Management, a $230 Million venture capital fund specializing in healthcare technology investments for emerging private companies and Deerfield Management, the first healthcare hedge fund to be created, with current assets of $2 Billion invested in publicly traded healthcare companies.

Peter graduated from Bowdoin College and attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Trustmark Insurance Co., a healthcare insurance provider, The Alliance For Aging Research, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Blair Academy. Peter has served on the Board of Trustees of Bowdoin College and of The Lake Forest Hospital.
