Mr. Galanis has utilized his extensive business and finance experience to assist his clients successfully market and sell prime real estate throughout the United States. As Vice President of Project Management, he has played an integral role in the auction sale of over 500 properties, utilizing single and multiple property auction formats.
Notable auction programs spearheaded by Mr. Galanis include industrial and commercial buildings, hotels, churches, trophy residences, multi-family buildings, golf courses, parking garages, condominium developments, a county jail, an exclusive air rights parcel in downtown Chicago, and development land, with an aggregate value of over $100 million.
Prior to his affiliation with the firm, Mr. Galanis enjoyed success in the financial services sector and as an entrepreneur. He has previously managed national loan portfolios worth up to $85 million, workout portfolios of up to $70 million, and originated over $160 million in new commercial real estate loans. He established a commercial real estate division for a financial institution, as well as being integral in establishing a Real Estate and Mortgage Brokerage operation for the sale and refinancing of a privately-held, $100-million national commercial portfolio.
He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Public Accounting from Loyola University of Chicago in 1983, and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from DePaul University of Chicago in 1987. He is a certified auctioneer from the Reppert School of Auctioneering, and in 2002 received the designation of Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) from the National Auctioneers Association Educational Institute. Less than 3% of all auctioneers in the United States have earned this prestigious accreditation.
He is a candidate to obtain the coveted Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. The CCIM designation is earned upon completion of a graduate-level curriculum and attainment of a level of qualifying experience. CCIMs are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation, investment analysis, and have formed a business network encompassing 1,000 markets throughout the world. Mr. Galanis holds real estate or auctioneer licenses in more than a dozen states, and is a member of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), the Chicago Association of Realtors® (CAR), the National Auctioneers Association (NAA), as well as the Illinois State Auctioneers Association (ISAA).
Mr. Galanis is an active participant in the community, volunteering his time as a skilled auctioneer for local and national non-for-profit organizations. He is a member of the University Club and as a world traveler, has served as a Director of the acclaimed Adventurer’s Club of Chicago (founded in 1911).
