Before coming to Andrews Kurth, Paul served some 25 years as in-house counsel with a major international integrated oil, gas, and chemical company. His practice includes expertise in the administrative and transactional aspects of site investigation and remediation under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund), including coordination of activities within PRP Groups and negotiations with the US Environmental Protection Agency and relevant state authorities. Paul also has been involved in client internal environmental compliance audits and external environmental due diligence activities for buyers and sellers in stock and asset transactions. In addition, Paul has experience in drafting sale and purchase agreements with respect to industrial real estate, serving on negotiating teams, and in regard to other business transactional matters. He also has served on litigation defense and prosecution teams, assisting in developing and evaluating strategies and marshalling evidence.
