Backed by a strong board of directors and management team, Security Business Bank is led by veteran local banker Paul Rodeno, who serves as president and CEO. Mr. Rodeno has more than 20 years of experience in business and retail/private banking at all levels and has served in a variety of senior management positions during the last 15 years.
Mr. Rodeno first had the idea of creating a business bank specifically for San Diego's small to mid-sized businesses in August 2001. He felt a void had been created by the numerous big bank mergers of recent years and saw an opportunity to provide the local decision making and personalized service that many of San Diego's small to mid-sized business customers were once accustomed to receiving. It was then that Mr. Rodeno decided to create a business bank whose focus would be serving these unmet needs of small to mid-sized business owners in San Diego.
Mr. Rodeno most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Eldorado Bank, a $1.3 billion, 24-branch commercial branch group, which recently sold to Zion Bancorporation. His responsibilities included both the strategic and day-to-day performance of the $1.3 billion banking group, which included Eldorado Bank and Antelope Valley Bank.
Mr. Rodeno began his banking career in 1977 as a Commercial Loan Credit Administrator and a Commercial Lending Officer for First Interstate Bank in San Diego. He then served as Chief Operating Officer and Director of San Dieguito National Bank prior to its sale to Eldorado Bancshares.
Mr. Rodeno has had extensive experience in establishing and leading community based organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors of California Southern Small Business Development Corporation, a community based nonprofit State of California guaranteed lending program, Treasurer for the Downtown San Diego YMCA and a member of the Board of Directors of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, the California Bankers Association and the Community Bankers of California. He also serves on the board of the San Diego chapter of Legatus, a Catholic leadership group.
Mr. Rodeno received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from San Diego State University and completed graduate level studies with the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. |
