Dr. Bartlett is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California Berkeley where he began his academic career in 1973. He supervised more than 120 Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows and led a research program encompassing topics in organic synthesis bioorganic chemistry and molecular modeling that are relevant to drug discovery and other fields. He has consulted extensively for the pharmaceutical agrochemical and biotech industries and organized a number of symposia in drug discovery. Dr. Bartlett was a co-founder of Pharmacopeia and serves as chair of the Scientific Advisory Board and a member of Pharmacopeia's Board of Directors.
Dr. Bartlett received his A.B. and A.M. degrees from Harvard University and his Ph.D. degree from Stanford University and pursued postdoctoral studies at the University of California San Diego. He has held fellowships from the NSF the NIH and the Alfred P. Sloan and Alexander von Humboldt Foundations and he has been honored with the Stuart Pharmaceuticals Award an NIH MERIT award the Humboldt Senior Scientist Award the Cope Scholar Award and the Berkeley Citation. He is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. |
