Mr. Garrett is a dynamic, senior executive and consultant with over 30 years of experience in information technology. He has a wide range of industry experience and served clients large and small. He has managed several information technology organizations and built Big 5 consulting practices focused on information technology management and outsourcing. Having assisted more than 300 organizations since 1971, he has personally witnessed virtually every conceivable IT practice, ranging from truly innovative and world class to highly ineffective and costly. As a recognized authority on outsourcing, Mr. Garrett has recommended in-sourced and outsourced solutions alike and has personally negotiated over $4 billion in outsourcing contracts.
Mr. Garrett’s distinctive career in information technology includes working in the software and outsourcing industries, and consulting with many of the world’s leading companies. He has advised numerous information technology organizations with IT budgets in excess of $1 billion as well as many forward-thinking small companies. He has and led engagements in many information technology disciplines including; IT Strategy, IT Effectiveness assessments, sourcing strategy, governance and organization design, contract negotiations, cost reduction efforts, merger and acquisition rationalization assistance, and data center expansion, consolidation and relocation.
His past assignments span many industries, including Financial Services (banking and insurance), Healthcare, Manufacturing and Distribution, High Technology, Communications, and Transportation. These employers and clients have ranged in size from $50 million to over $100 billion, public corporations and privately-held companies. Representative clients include Nissan, Renault, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Motors, Mitsubishi Truck & Bus, American Express Financial, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Avco Financial, Transamerica, Allstate Insurance, General Electric, Mitsubishi Electronics, Family Health Plan (FHP), McGaw Laboratories, numerous BCBS associations, Tenet Healthcare, Sprint, Bell Canada Emergis, TWA, Continental Airlines, Arizona Public Service, Fluor Daniel, Duncan Enterprises, Farmland, Walt Disney, McDonalds, and American Stores (acquired Albertsons).
Prior to joining Alsbridge, Mr. Garrett was a founding Partner at Pacific Crest Consulting Group and also held positions as Managing Partner at Transition Partners, Vice President at Capgemini Ernst & Young, Partner at Ernst & Young, Director of Technology Services for Litton Computer Services, and Senior Staff/Product manager for Informatics General a software company acquired by Computer Associates.
Mr. Garrett holds a bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University with specialization in Computer Science. He is a frequent speaker on the topic of outsourcing and has co-authored the book Performance Management for Financial Institutions. He has also authored several well-circulated whitepapers on outsourcing and enterprise systems management. |
