Patrick J. Haddad is a Member of Kerr, Russell and Weber, PLC. Mr. Haddad's professional practice concentrates in the areas of securities and corporate law, and health care law and insurance. He is co-chairperson of the firm's Health Care Practice Group.
Mr. Haddad's securities and corporate practice includes public company representation, disclosure and compliance relative to current, quarterly and annual filings, Section 16 reporting and representation of corporate directors and officers, corporate governance, audit committee and compensation committee representation, public offerings, private placements, negotiation and documentation of complex business transactions, and representation of nonprofit organizations.
Clients represented by Mr. Haddad include the boards of for-profit and nonprofit organizations, statewide professional associations, health care professionals, hospital systems, joint ventures, management/service organizations, and managed care delivery systems. Mr. Haddad advises health care clients on various legal issues including provider contracting, hospital/medical staff relationships, third party payor reimbursement, and state and federal laws regulating the delivery of health services and the business of health care.
Mr. Haddad advises a wide array of insurance clients, including property, casualty, professional liability, health and worker's compensation insurers, third party administrators, and self-funded health plans. Mr. Haddad frequently represents clients relative to the drafting and analysis of federal, state and local legislation. He also represents clients before federal and state courts and administrative tribunals.
Mr. Haddad is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Health Care Law Section, the American Bar Association Health Law Section, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and the American Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals. He frequently addresses various organizations on topics related to health care, including presentations on peer review, physician self-referral, antikickback, compliance plans, HIPAA, and antitrust. He has authored or co-authored various articles on health care, including a co-authored article on HIPAA and Its Impact on Michigan's Health Professionals published in the Michigan State Bar Journal in November, 2002.
Mr. Haddad is a 1989 graduate of the University of Detroit School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University in 1985. Before joining Kerr, Russell and Weber in 1990, Mr. Haddad was law clerk to the Honorable Dennis W. Archer, Associate Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.
Mr. Haddad is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is active in community organizations and is presently a member of the Board of Trustees of Notre Dame High School, Harper Woods, Michigan. |
