Pamela P. Flaherty was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Citigroup Foundation in January 2007. The Foundation currently supports programs in three key areas: Financial Education, Educating the Next Generation, and Building Communities and Entrepreneurs. Last year, giving by the Citigroup Foundation rose to $92 million. Grants were made in 85 countries and territories, with the Foundation’s international grant making more than doubling from $14 million in 2002 to $37 million in 2006.
Pam also leads Citi’s corporate citizenship activities as Director of Corporate Citizenship and heads the company’s Global Corporate Social Responsibility function. She is a member of Citi’s Management Committee.
Pam has been responsible for Citi Corporate Citizenship and Global Corporate Social Responsibility since 1996. Previously, she managed Citibank’s New York branch banking business and served as Citicorp’s Senior Human Resources Officer. She began her career at the company in Citibank’s International Banking Group.
She is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins University and also participates on the Boards of a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Kenyon College, Colonial Williamsburg, and The Nature Conservancy Long Island Chapter. Pam is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
She is an honors graduate of Smith College and holds a Masters in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
