Mr. Snyder is the Director-in-charge of the Accounting and Business Advisory Services Department with the Firm. He has over twenty-five years of professional experience including almost twenty years in public accounting with a Big 4 Firm and as a founding partner of a local CPA firm and ten years as a Principal/CFO in a real estate development company. He has extensive experience providing accounting, consulting and tax services to not-for-profit organizations, real estate developers and construction, financial institutions, professional service firms, and other small to mid sized businesses.
In public accounting, Mr. Snyder was associated with the Washington, D.C. office of a Big 4 CPA firm, most recently as a member of the audit management group. At this firm, he supervised audit engagements, such as Fannie Mae. Other engagements included audits for a variety of commercial businesses and not-for-profit organizations, various tax and consulting assignments and assisting with public offerings. He was a statistical audit specialist and was involved in writing a national audit practice manual for the mortgage banking industry.
As a founding partner of a local Washington D.C. area CPA firm and as the audit and accounting Director to FS, Mr. Snyder performed a wide range of business consulting, audit, tax and financial consulting services for real estate developers, financial institutions, professional firms, nor-for-profit organizations, public companies, various other types of commercial businesses and individuals.
Mr. Snyder has been a Principal/CFO with a major Washington, D.C. area residential developer and homebuilder with annual sales of $50 million. He arranged for bank and investor financing, managed bank and investor relationships and reporting and served on the senior executive committee, which made decisions on project acquisitions and financing. He arranged for approximately $350 million in bank and investor financing to develop over 2,000 lots and build over 2,300 homes in approximately 30 communities. He worked with Legg Mason and Ferris Baker to issue tax-exempt bonds to finance public infrastructure improvements with the creation of the first special assessment district in the State of Maryland. He worked with mortgage bankers and title companies to create joint venture "controlled business arrangements".
A Certified Public Accountant since 1973, Mr. Snyder is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Greater Washington Society of CPAs and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served on the Real Estate Finance Committee of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and a member of the Board of the Kazakhstan Connection. Mr. Snyder received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, with high honors, from the University of Maryland.
