As Chief Commercial Officer and Senior Vice President, Ninan Chacko will lead the global commercial activities of Worldspan. Chacko's commercial division combines into one unit Worldspan's existing three lines of business, Worldwide Travel Distribution, Corporate Planning and Development, and E-Commerce. Chacko's overall responsibility will be for agency, e-commerce and content, which together will result in greater accountability and provide for superior product solutions and improved customer service.
Chacko has over 17 years of experience and expertise in electronic distribution, e-commerce, sales, marketing and strategy in the travel industry and has held several executive positions with major travel industry companies.
Prior to joining Worldspan in October 2003, Chacko was senior vice president Emerging Business at Sabre Holdings, the incubation arm for new business units and key strategic initiatives. In this role, he led the planning, development and operation of its hotel merchant business, Sabre Exclusives.
Chacko’s roles with Sabre Holding and Sabre’s former owner, AMR Corp., spanned over 13 years. During his tenure, Chacko served as senior vice president Marketing, where he was responsible for strategy, industry affairs, marketing planning and brand communications for Sabre’s Travel Marketing and Distribution Division. Previously, as senior vice president Global Services, Chacko established Sabre's business in IT outsourcing in the travel industry and also managed Sabre's commercial strategy for all global airline alliances.
Prior to this, Chacko was vice president Sales and Marketing at Sabre Technology Solutions, where he started as senior director Sales and Marketing in 1990, eventually leading the software and solutions unit's worldwide Sales and Marketing.
Chacko began developing his professional skills as manager Airline Engineering Services for System One Corp. in 1987, where he led a flight operations and performance engineering group.
A native of Malaysia and educated in Asia, Europe and the United States, Chacko holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas. He completed Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program and is an ICTA certified travel counselor. |
