Nickolas Barris Biography :

Mr. Barris has spent his professional career providing consulting services in the areas of strategic planning, concept and product creation and implementation, and business development for a diverse group of global companies.

Mr. Barris' first consulting job was with Nielsen Marketing Research where he provided product promotion analysis and target marketing services for a series of Fortune 500 companies with world renowned brands-- Coca-Cola, Tropicana Orange Juice, Coppertone, etc.

Next, Mr. Barris was hired to create and implement all aspects of the strategy for a U.S. House of Representatives political campaign. In this capacity, Mr. Barris developed comprehensive campaign messaging documents, media plans, performed the organizational management of internal staff and hundreds of external volunteers, and allocated financing.

After running the campaign, Mr. Barris obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Philosophy (graduating summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0 grade point average) to augment his Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Finance. Mr. Barris' graduate coursework concentrated on analyzing the role that film and television play in shaping popular culture.

After graduation, Mr. Barris applied his M.A. training and previous business experience to provide story editor and story development services for studios and production companies in Hollywood. He analyzed hundreds of movie projects while employed by Sandollar Productions (deal at Sony studios; notable productions 'Father of the Bride I and II' starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton), New Line Cinema, and later for the Rothman Agency, an influential literary agency based in Beverly Hills, California.

After a period of consulting for the above companies, Mr. Barris co-founded EO Productions International (EOPI), a US subsidiary of a European television broadcaster. Mr. Barris served EOPI as President of Feature Film and Television Development and assisted in developing a slate of more then 20 feature film and television projects, produced two Award winning documentaries '...and then there is hope' and 'William's Syndrome; A Highly Musical Species' and helped facilitate the full length feature film 'Goldilocks', starring Hannah Hall, a featured actress in the movie 'Forrest Gump.'

In addition, Mr. Barris along with his business partner Albert Mons founded Nexus Media International Studios, whose goal was to produce life-affirming, socially engaging feature film and television projects in cooperation with existing production companies. Nexus later expanded to include video distribution of both domestic and foreign life-affirming media projects.

After years of working with EOPI and Nexus, Mr. Barris formed his own media production and consulting company, Modernity Productions.

Through Modernity, Mr. Barris has been hired by numerous companies to develop and write film and television projects, create corporate media plans and videos, consult on structuring story elements and publishing deals on domestic and international books and novels, and provide strategic planning and marketing strategies for emerging technology companies.

In addition to providing consulting services to third party companies, Mr. Barris developed a number of film and television projects within Modernity. One project identified, optioned, and developed by Mr. Barris, 'Sue Thomas: FB Eye' became a prime-time one hour drama on network television in America. Based on the true life story of a deaf FBI agent, the show was the first prime-time show in U.S. network history to feature a lead character who was deaf to be played by an actor who was deaf. As a result, the show received worldwide media attention with feature articles and stories being done in print, radio, and television, including the 'Today' show. 'Sue Thomas: FB Eye' was consistently the number one rated show on the network and was sold to more than 50 countries around the world, where it was a number rated show in many other territories including South Africa, Japan, and Canada.

Mr. Barris is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Writers Guild of Canada, the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences (the organization which decides the Emmy awards). He earned his B.B.A in Finance from the University of Georgia and his M.A. from Covenant Seminary.
