Mr. Tomassetti became president and chief operating officer of Airbus Industrie of North America, Inc. (AINA) September 1, 1994.
Formerly vice president and general manager, twin-jet business development for McDonnell Douglas Corporation, Mr. Tomassetti was responsible for such AINA activities as sales, contracts, market planning and sales finance for U.S. and Canadian customers.
Prior to joining McDonnell Douglas, Mr. Tomassetti was executive vice president of Pratt & Whitney's Commercial Engine Business organization. During his more than 30 years at Pratt & Whitney, he held various positions in engineering, marketing and customer support.
In 1981, Mr. Tomassetti was appointed vice president of sales and service of Pratt & Whitney's Commercial Products Division and in 1984, he was elected to fill the top marketing position at the newly-founded International Aero Engines (IAE), the five nation consortium (of which Pratt & Whitney is a member) formed to develop and market the IAE V2500 aircraft engine. He became president of IAE in 1987.
A native of Hartford, Connecticut, Mr. Tomassetti earned an engineering degree from General Motors Institute and a Master's degree in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
