Newton F. Crenshaw has served as president and general manager of Lilly Japan since August 2003. He is a member of the company’s senior management council.
He received a bachelor of arts degree with honors in 1985 from DePauw University in economics and mathematics. Crenshaw was also a Management Fellow an honors program for the Center of Management and Entrepreneurship.
Crenshaw joined the company in 1985 as a sales representative in Charlottesville Virginia.
In 1988 he became a marketing analyst and in 1989 a government pricing associate. In December 1989 he was named manager of the Nashville district. He was named manager of marketing research (oral antibiotics and CNS) in 1992. In 1994 he became regional sales director south central area. He became team leader of business-to-business customer strategy and implementation in 1997. In 1999 he was promoted to vice president U.S. sales and marketing (primary care and neuroscience). He was named vice president of e.Lilly formed in July 2000 to accelerate utilization of new business models through the use of digital technologies. In August 2002 he became vice president of communications and public affairs for Lilly.
