Experience:

Neville Reid is a litigator and transactional attorney whose practice is primarily focused on issues surrounding bankruptcies, creditors' rights and distressed asset acquisitions. Neville was designated an Illinois "Super Lawyer" in 2005 and 2006 by the Law & Politics organization and Chicago Magazine, based in part on the views of other Illinois bankruptcy and workout attorneys and a "blue ribbon" commission of leading attorneys in Illinois.

Neville joined Mayer Brown in 1987.

Notable Engagements:

General counsel to Chapter 7 trustee of marchFIRST, Inc., a former multi-billion dollar Internet consulting firm, in marchFIRST's liquidation currently pending in Chicago.

Represented Liquidating Trustee of Oberweis Securities, Inc., in company's SIPA liquidation proceeding.

Represented joint venture in its successful and competitive acquisition of $62 million of assets from the Montgomery Ward bankruptcy estate.

Represented Cargill, Inc. in its $470 million attempted acquisition of assets from the Chapter 11 bankruptcy estate of Farmland Foods, Inc., and in its successful $22 million acquisition of certain assets from the bankruptcy estate of Agway, Inc.

Represented Evans, Inc., a Chicago-based national fur company, as debtor's counsel in its liquidating Chapter 11 case.

Served as, or currently serving as, counsel to: Continental Bank N.A. (n/k/a Bank of America, NA) as principal secured creditor of Hyde Park Hospital, Inc., in the Hospital's Chapter 11 liquidation; Unsecured Creditors' Committee of Doctors' Hospital of Hyde Park, Inc. in its ongoing liquidation; Unsecured Creditors' Committee of Highland Superstores, Inc., a former national consumer electronics chain with over 90 stores, in Highland's liquidating Chapter 11 case; Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (n/k/a TIAA-CREF), in the Bergner Stores bankruptcy; Transamerica Commercial Finance Corporation in various bankruptcies, including Outboard Marine Corporation; various lenders and Fortune 500 companies on aspects of bankruptcies and workouts; various lenders, on bankruptcy aspects of the securitization of financial assets.

Prevailed, on behalf of Rockwell International Corp., as the appellee, in Zerand v. Cox, 23 F. 3d 159 (7th Cir. 1994; Chief Judge Posner), addressing successor liability issues related to bankruptcy sales.

Court-appointed Chapter 7 trustee of Synet, Inc. Obtained $5 million from Microsoft Corporation in settlement of Synet's trademark infringement claim.

Serve as court-appointed bankruptcy trustee of numerous other debtors, including companies in liquidation.

Serve as litigation co-counsel to multi-billion-dollar retirement fund in defense against multi-million-dollar lender-liability action.
