Neil S. Burley, CPA is a senior leader with a proven ability to guide companies through periods of significant revenue growth. As a seasoned finance executive, he has more than 20 years experience in all aspects of corporate finance and accounting. He possesses the strong hands-on and strategic leadership skills needed to develop effective financial models, optimal cash flows and sound financial infrastructure for fast-growing companies. Mr. Burley has successfully designed, implemented and managed comprehensive corporate accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, financial modeling and tax and MIS systems for start-up companies to Fortune 500s. He has repeatedly shown his ability to effectively link accounting and finance with general operations in order to provide hands-on financial leadership for strategic planning, sales and marketing. The internal control processes he designs and puts in place help management in managing costs and tracking financial performance.
Since joining SecureCARE in 2001, Mr. Burley has led the company through a strategic management and financial re-organization and into an aggressive growth mode. As chief financial officer, his day-to-day responsibilities include all finance and accounting transactions and internal and external (SEC) financial reporting. Mr. Burley is also responsible for the company’s strategic and tactical cash flow management. In conjunction with the senior management team, he has led the refinement of the company’s business and financial model, and now continuously monitors adherence to company goals and objectives through an ongoing focus of fiscal responsibility and employee accountability. In addition, Mr. Burley played a key role in raising more than $2.4 million in capital in first ten months of 2004.
Prior to joining SecureCARE, Mr. Burley was an equity participant and member of senior management for a start-up managed data storage services company, Storage Provider, Inc., based in Houston, Texas. As vice president of finance and controller, he was responsible for strategic planning, staffing, budgeting, and management of the company’s entire finance and accounting infrastructure.
From 1996 to 2000, he worked for Compaq Computer Corporation holding accounting and finance positions with increasing responsibility. In his last year there, he was director of corporate financial planning and analysis when Compaq was a global leader in PC sales and had revenues of about $11 billion. As senior financial advisor to the chief financial officer and corporate controller of this Fortune 500 Company, he led a professional team in the development and preparation of consolidated financial reports, board presentations, speech materials, quarterly budgets, earnings targets and financial forecasts for the company’s world-wide sales regions and business units. He also assisted with financial management during the merger/acquisition of Tandem and Digital.
Mr. Burley began his accounting career at 110-year-old Pennzoil Company of Houston, Texas, where he was employed from 1982 to 1996. While at Pennzoil, he held many accounting and finance positions, culminating in his having responsibility for all internal and external (SEC) financial reporting for the Manufacturing and Marketing Division.
Mr. Burley earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1982, and has been a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas since 1984 |
