Nancy Chapman's career as a health care professional spans 25 years and includes direct experience relative to all operational aspects of health care, including hospitals, integrated delivery systems, physician/group practices, management services organizations (MSOs), and information systems and health care management consulting. She has served in numerous executive and senior management positions, including Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. This comprehensive background and broad experience base qualifies Ms. Chapman for a wide range of initiatives, including operations management, strategic planning, integrated systems planning, and complex implementation management. She has led organizations in a variety of roles and projects, including establishing successful programs that combine IT use and data interpretation to arrive at solid strategic and tactical plans. Her depth of experience includes many successful years leading health care-specific IT organizations, including clinical, patient accounting, financial, materials management, payroll/human resources, decision support, electronic medical record, and other niche applications. She possesses hands-on experience in reengineering information systems, admitting and medical records, and patient accounting departments; reorganizing and automating centralized billing services; and marketing and leading the service delivery of a statewide MSO. Additionally, Ms. Chapman has led the definition and use of decision support tools and has participated in educating medical staff and executive teams in the use of these tools. Her experience in working directly with medical staff education includes economic and quality credentialing, risk management and quality assurance programs. Frequent involvement in information systems assessments and planning processes have provided the opportunity to develop individual information systems plans specific to the needs of numerous health care systems and organizations, and many times Ms. Chapman has remained with clients to help implement the tactical projects included in the plans. In consulting projects, her leadership of operational review initiatives for physician groups has resulted in increased revenues and reduced costs, as well as improved patient and physician workflows. Further, Ms. Chapman has managed information systems selections (clinical, financial, niche, physician practice management) from development of business requirements through successful implementation and operations improvement focused on the client's maximum return on investment. She has also directed planning and integration of an electronic medical record project for a major academic medical center and its 500-member physician foundation.
