With his extensive knowledge of business management, Mo Fowell is entering his 22nd year with the 49ers and his fourth as Vice President of Operations. Prior to his promotion, Fowell served as the Director of Stadium Operations for the 49ers for 15 years. He initially began with the 49ers in 1986 as the team’s Luxury Suite Manager. In his present role, Fowell splits his time between the 49ers two facilities the stadium in San Francisco and the practice facility in Santa Clara. He is responsible for the supervision of stadium operations and the practice facility, where he oversees security, field maintenance, building maintenance, front office management and all other aspects relating to the facility. One of the major undertakings Fowell was responsible for in his stadium supervision was coordinating the $30 million renovation of Candlestick Park in 1986. Part of that task included the implementation of the luxury suite sales and marketing program.
And in early 2007, Fowell was part of the 49ers management team that negotiated $10.3 million in repairs to Monster Park that will restore escalators, elevators, restrooms and refurbish the existing parking lot.
In 2005, Fowell was instrumental in the logistical planning of the 49ers intricate three-day road trip to Mexico City to play the Arizona Cardinals. The historical match up marked the first regular season NFL game played outside of the United States, drawing over 103,000 fans at Estadio Azteca. A charter member of the Stadium Managers Association (SMA), Fowell was also a member of the NFL Task Force on Security, which was established after the events of September 11, 2001. Before joining the 49ers, Fowell spent 15 years in the restaurant industry, compiling an impressive resume and honing his managerial skills. For three years, he worked as Vice President of Operations for Ole International Foods (1983-86) and was responsible for operating three full service restaurants in Boise, ID and Lewiston, ID. From 1980-82, he worked as a District Supervisor for El Torito Restaurants, Inc. and oversaw the company’s regional expansion into the Northwestern United States. Fowell attended the University of Wyoming and Montana State and majored in business administration. Born in Billings, MT, Fowell and his wife, Cheryl, reside in Half Moon Bay, CA. |
