Michael Yim is a Consultant with Summit Blue. His professional and academic background in engineering analysis, simulation/stochastic modeling, and renewable energy technologies have proven practical in many applications. Since joining Summit Blue in 2005, Mr. Yim has analyzed the economic and energy-driven impacts of energy efficiency programs implemented within a broad range of markets. Through those programs, he has acquired experience at both the project management and on-site measure verification levels. Most recently, Mr. Yim has been involved in the design of energy efficiency programs for Tucson Electric Power.
Other recent project experience includes:
* Developed savings estimates attributed to energy efficient, low-income measures installed through various programs under Nevada Power, Sierra Pacific Power, Louisville Gas & Electric, Baltimore Gas & Electric, and the City of Berkeley.
* Developed an analytical, web-based database to capture costs on over 250 separate residential, commercial, and industrial energy conservation applications under the 2006 Database for Energy Efficient Resources (DEER) Cost Update Study. This database provided seamless integration between the input of data, the calculation of relevant parameters, and the presentation of desired results - providing real time information to project representatives and data analysts.
* Coordinated, conducted, and evaluated field verifications and end-use metering activities under Southern California Edison’s Innovative Designs for Energy Efficiency Activities (IDEEA) program. The findings from this analysis were ultimately used to estimate the impact of freeridership and spillover on the adjusted gross and net savings estimates attributed to residential and commercial measures installed.
Mr. Yim’s past experience includes working with the Purdue Energy Modeling Research Group (PEMRG) and State Utility Forecasting Group (SUFG) to update and analyze the Indiana natural gas distribution linear program cost model. The model assessed the economic and physical congestion risk stemming from variations in system wide demand and supply characteristics. He also played an active role in writing the 2005 Renewable Energy Resources Study for submission to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Mr. Yim obtained his MS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University with a focus on supply chain management and logistics systems. He holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California at Berkeley. |
