Mr. Gausling is Managing Partner with Blue Star Partners LLC a private equity investment company and a member of the Board of Directors of KNBT Bancorp both headquartered in Bethlehem Pa. He has proven success in guiding life sciences companies.
Prior to joining Blue Star in 2004 Mr. Gausling was President and CEO of OraSure Technologies. OraSure develops manufactures and sells in vitro diagnostic products and devices including the only rapid oral fluid HIV 1-2 test. He began his tenure with the company in 2000 as president and COO and a member of the board and became CEO in 2002. As CEO he grew revenues 25 percent to $54 million doubled the company’s stock price and raised more than $50 million in a secondary offering. While at OraSure he was recognized as Ernst & Young’s Central/Eastern Pennsylvania Biotech Entrepreneur of the year.
OraSure was formed from a reverse merger STC Technologies with Epitope. Mr. Gausling co-founded STC in 1987 and was Chairman and CEO of the company until 2000. During that time he built STC from three to 80 employees and grew sales to $18 million. In 1994 and 1995 STC earned recognition as one of Inc. 500’s Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies.
Mr. Gausling earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Business Administration in finance from Miami University in Ohio.
