Mike Bettison is the Director of New Media for Minnesota Public Radio, one of the nation's premier public radio organizations. In this role, he oversees the creation, production, and maintenance of more than 20 domains including regional Web services in Southern California and Minnesota as well as all national program and station support Web sites for American Public Media (americanpublicmedia.us). Prior to MPR, Mr. Bettison was a founding partner and Vice President of Technology at Candide, to which he brought a wealth of production and media experience. Mr. Bettison's interactive media development career began in 1994 at AT&T where he was a line producer for an interactive television trial in Castro Valley California. In this capacity he worked with Bell Labs' proprietary authoring language and built three major titles for the trial's shopping channel. He was subsequently appointed to Time Warner's Broadband development group as Director of Tools and Systems Development where he was charged with building and maintaining a broadband production environment for the company's cable modem efforts. Additionally, he consulted at Time Magazine where he produced and programmed rich media programming and advised the senior staff on content, technical and production standards. Mr. Bettison has been an adjunct faculty member of New York University's Stern School of Business and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism where he has lectured on Web site development process and production tools. Mr. Bettison has a bachelor's degree in Music from Berklee College of Music, and a master's degree from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program. |
