Michelle Neal Biography :

Michelle Neal has vast experience in all aspects of energy law including trading and marketing as well as oil and gas production. In particular, Ms. Neal’s practice is focused on complex structured wholesale commodities transactions, including ISDAs, EEI’s, power purchase agreements and tolling agreements secured by liens on real and personal property. In addition to her energy practice, Ms. Neal is well-versed in corporate, commercial and real estate transactions. Previous to joining the Firm, she was general counsel for a major energy retail company. Represented a retail energy provider in outsourcing from a customer over $1 billion of energy expenditures for power and gas and the installation of energy efficient equipment at its facilities nationwide. Represented energy company in the sale of national and international energy assets, including wind farms and gas pipeline interests. Represented energy trading company in prepaid gas transaction financed with tax free municipal bonds valued in excess of $1 billion. Represented the City of Houston in a structured transaction involving the purchase of wind power and renewable energy credits from Reliant and J. Aron. Represented a wholesale power purchaser in a structured tolling agreement secured by liens on the power plant. Represented the wholesale power supplier and energy manager in a structured ISDA and an Energy Management Agreement secured by liens on a coal plant. Represented large independent gas producer in multiple transactions involving the acquisition of producing properties and a complex gas gathering system.
