Michael Marks is a qualified chartered and management accountant (South Africa and the United Kingdom), with fifteen years’ professional commercial experience in Asia, Europe, the USA and Africa. As Managing Director of Sonnenblick-Goldman Asia Pacific in Shanghai, Mr. Marks’ principal advisory role covers greater China. In this capacity, he has been involved in over US$2 Billion’s worth of real estate transaction advisory mandates across both international and domestic clients, including development debt and equity financing for hotel and commercial office projects, debt and equity conversion financing for luxury hotels, and sales and acquisition opportunities of hotel and office properties. Mr. Marks has lived in China for seven years and speaks fluent Mandarin.

He has worked previously as a Manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers in South Africa and as a Director of Horwath Asia Pacific in Australia, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, working as senior advisor to investors, lenders, owners and operators in commercial real estate markets, including pension funds, insurance companies, private equity funds, real estate funds, and high net worth individual investors.
