Michael P. Grau is a senior financial executive with over 19 years experience in the areas of accounting, commercial lending and management consulting. Over the course of his career, Mike has performed financial, operational, managerial and collateral evaluations of hundreds of businesses throughout a broad range of industries.
Prior to joining Focus, Mike spent several years working as one of three founding partners of a boutique management consulting firm, where he was involved in all areas of the firm's practice, including corporate recapitalization, troubled debt restructuring, merger & acquisition financing, turnaround management, financial consulting and lender services.
Mike has also worked as Interim Chief Financial Officer for various privately-held businesses, including a textile manufacturer, a manufacturer of glazed tile and specialty brick and a private jet aircraft management company specializing in custom charter services.
In addition to his wide-ranging turnaround consulting and public accounting experience, Mike worked for nearly a dozen years as an asset-based lender in various senior level positions.
Mike's background in finance includes all aspects of collateral examination, underwriting, risk assessment, portfolio management, loan workout and the sale of commercial loan portfolios. During his time in commercial finance, Mike worked for Fremont Financial Corporation, Summit Bancorp and Dana Corporation, a Fortune 200 supplier of axle, drive shaft, engine, frame, chassis and transmission technologies. While at Dana, he served as Treasurer and Controller of the asset-based lending group within Dana's financial services division.
Mike is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Miami University. He is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, the Turnaround Management Association and the Association for Corporate Growth. Mike is also an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
