Michael Biery Biography :

Michael Biery's extensive career as a 30-year veteran of the software industry began in the most unlikely of places. Initially as vice president of a copper and uranium mining company in Utah, Biery's quest for more efficient business processes led him to develop mine planning and financial software for the industry. In the early 1980s, he sold the software company that he founded to General Electric. From there, Biery began his ascent within the quickly evolving software industry, moving on to gain extensive experience and hold executive leadership positions at a number of successful software companies including Cullinet Software, Dun & Bradstreet, and Sybase.

Working with both well-established and emerging growth software companies over the course of his career, Biery made significant contributions to the success of those organizations, and racked up numerous achievements in client services, application development, and channel development along the way.

Biery's guiding professional philosophy is that a software company's success depends upon its ability to provide customers with the right mix of services to ensure that the implemented products meet their business needs. It is his flair to execute upon this mantra that led Kronos to hire him as vice president of client support services in 2003.

Biery's career highlights include serving as general manager at Dun & Bradstreet for the UNIX product line, and vice president of development and client services. At Dun & Bradstreet, he re-engineered and consolidated seven worldwide support centers down to two, and gained international operations experience before moving on to make his mark at Sybase, a billion dollar database and tools software company. At Sybase, Biery served as vice president of client services, overseeing technical support for more than 10,000 customers. He then assumed the role of vice president of channel sales for Sybase's Internet product division where he was recognized for reducing sales costs, and increasing sales by restructuring the company's revenue mix between direct and indirect sales.

Biery's next career move led him to ViryaNet, Inc. where he was named vice president of operations and professional services for North America. Biery helped lead the Israel-based mobile workforce management software company to a successful IPO in 2000 as he spearheaded the rapid growth of its professional services offerings.

Biery earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of Akron. A recipient of the Mass Software Council's Mentor Program Award, he is a frequent speaker on the topics of technical support and customer service.
