Before joining Altius Health Plans, Mike Bahr was Vice President and Chief Actuary for Utah’s largest HMO. Mr. Bahr joined Altius as Vice President of Planning and Development in July 2000. He was appointed President / Chief Executive Officer of the company in September 2001.
Mr. Bahr was previously Vice President and Chief Actuary at Intermountain Health Care, where he was responsible for all fee and risk arrangements, pricing and benefit design, and underwriting strategies for large and small groups. He developed successful trend studies, compensation models, and product strategies.
Mr. Bahr is well known for his actuarial expertise and candid perspective on Utah’s insurance market among health insurance brokers, the Utah Insurance Department and other state policy makers. Lawmakers often seek his advice on the impact of proposed health insurance legislation. His actuarial expertise has been recognized by local and national organizations that have published his articles and featured his presentations.
Mr. Bahr is a member of the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries. He earned a master’s degree in Statistics at Brigham Young University in 1987 after completing his undergraduate work at BYU in 1985. |
