Dr. Andre, Ph.D. is currently Chief of the Physics and Engineering Division, University of
California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine; Chief Physicist, San Diego Veterans Affairs
Healthcare System Radiology Service; Radiology Professor, UCSD; and a member of the
Moores UCSD Cancer Center. He completed his B.A. in physics at Central University of Iowa,
and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Medical Physics at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a
member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, the Acoustical Society of
America, the American College of Radiology, and a senior member of the American Institute of
Ultrasound in Medicine.
Dr. Andre’s research activities focus on novel imaging techniques for breast cancer detection
and diagnosis, including digital mammography, ultrasound diffraction tomography, ultrasound
characterization of tissue (particularly breast tissue), blood and bone, computer aided detection
and classification of breast masses. He has served on the editorial boards of Acoustical
Imaging, Academic Radiology, and Medical Principles and Practice as well been an invited
speaker to numerous scientific symposium. Dr. Andre is extensively published with over 145
published articles in professional journals and texts. |
