Michael Howe, Ph.D. , is an Executive Coach with LeaderSource, A Korn/Ferry Company, based in the firm’s Minneapolis office.Prior to joining Korn/Ferry International, Dr. Howe served 25 years as an officer in several major healthcare and insurance corporations, including his most recent role as Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Administrative Officer for Allina Health System. He has also served as faculty for the University of Minnesota and worked with Xcel Energy in human resources. Dr. Howe is a strategically-focused executive with extensive experience translating business strategy into effective leadership practices and organization results. As a corporate officer and board member, he has successfully addressed the leadership and organizational implications of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, closures, start-ups, and joint venture operations. Dr. Howe blends leadership theory with practical business strategy to create a sense of vision that inspires contribution from others. His consulting emphasizes executive coaching, strategic human resource management, successful organizational change, and leadership continuity. Dr. Howe has published written works on a wide range of topics, including leadership development, aging, behavior modification, ethics, and succession planning. Some of his recent publications include: Boards: Embrace your HR Officer, Boards and Directors; Leadership Development and Succession Planning: A Board Perspective, NACD Directors Monthly; and Ethical Practices in Corporations, a co-authored chapter in The Ethics of Human Resources and Industrial Relations. Dr. Howe currently serves as vice chair of DeCare International and was a past board member of the Delta Dental Plan of Minnesota. He is an advisory board member and former chair of the University of Minnesota Industrial Relations Center, served on the Executive Advisory Panel for the Academy of Management Executive Journal, and is a former advisory board member of Minnesota Executive Education Center. Dr. Howe holds an A.M. and Ph.D. in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in Psychology from Mankato State University. |
