Mike Floyd, of counsel in the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Group, has over 30 years' experience in all phases of commercial litigation. In recent years Mike has concentrated in the areas of products liability defense, class action defense and general commercial litigation.
Products Liability Defense and General Commercial Litigation. Mike's experience in the area of commercial litigation runs the gamut. This has included, for example, technically complex litigation involving the design and manufacturing of heavy industrial cranes, automobiles and engines, trade secret litigation and other general commercial litigation. Mike has also successfully defended manufacturers in numerous products liability suits, with a strong concentration in the pharmaceuticals area.
Class Action Defense. Mike also has extensive experience in defending major corporations in a variety of class action suits including consumer fraud and products liability suits. This has included, for example, representation of automobile manufacturers in suits challenging dealership and distribution practices, defense of the Philadelphia transit authority in litigation involving a train accident and representing an engine manufacturer in alleged class actions.
Antitrust and Dealership Matters. Mike has many years of experience in representing major national manufacturers in both litigation and counseling in the antitrust and dealership related areas. For example, Mike tried and won for an automobile manufacturer one of the first cases brought under the New Jersey Franchise Act, and has extensive experience representing manufacturers before state dealership boards. He also has been involved in the federal courts in litigation under the Sherman and Robinson-Patman Acts, the Federal Dealers Day in Court Act, and the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act.
In General. Mike is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and American Bar Associations and the Antitrust and Litigation sections of the American Bar Association. Mike was a co-founder of The Philadelphia Chamber Ensemble and is a former vice president and director of The Navy League of the United States, Philadelphia Chapter.
