Mr. Cox was elevated to C.E.O. of the Corporation in April of 1999 after assuming the mantle of Corporation President in August of 1998. He formerly was President and C.E.O. of the Corporation's lead bank First Merchants Bank N.A. of Muncie. Mr. Cox has been a Director of the Bank and the Corporation since 1984.
A graduate of Ball State University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking Cox began his banking career as an Investment Officer of Merchants National Bank (now First Merchants Bank) from 1970-1975. Prior to returning to First Merchants Bank in 1994 Cox served as Vice President of Corporate Planning and Development and later as President of the Information Services Group for Ontario Corporation.
Mr. Cox has long been an active community and civic leader serving on the Boards of Directors of Cardinal Health System (formerly Ball Memorial Hospital) The Community Foundation of Muncie/Delaware County Inc. The Ball State University Foundation and The Minnetrista Cultural Center among others. |
