Michael F. Manzulli has been Chairman of New York Community Bancorp, Inc. and New York Community Bank since October 31, 2003. In addition, he has served as a member of the Board of Directors of New York Commercial Bank since it was established on December 30, 2005. Mr. Manzulli joined the Company and the Bank as Chairman on July 31, 2001, in connection with the Company’s merger with Richmond County Financial Corp. on that date. Prior to the merger, Mr. Manzulli had served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Richmond County Financial Corp. and of Richmond County Savings Bank.
An attorney, Mr. Manzulli earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Niagara University and a Bachelor of Law degree at St. John’s University School of Law. He has also attended Brown University’s Graduate School of Banking.
An active member of the Staten Island community, Mr. Manzulli is Chairman of the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC), a member of the Board of Directors of the Staten Island Historical Society, a member of the Staten Island Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, a member of the Board of Directors of St. Elizabeth Ann’s Nursing Home, and a member of the Staten Island Rotary Club. In addition, he serves as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Richmond County Savings Foundation.
Mr. Manzulli is also a member of the Community Bankers Association of New York State (CBANYS), a member of America’s Community Bankers, and a member of the Richmond County and New York State Bar Associations.
Recognizing the important role of academics in today’s society, Mr. Manzulli’s involvement in education includes being recently appointed to the Board of Trustees of Wagner College. In addition, he is a member of the University Council of St. John’s University and a member of the University’s Staten Island Support Committee. In recognition of his efforts on behalf of education, St. John’s University conferred the Pietas Medal on Mr. Manzulli in 1985, the degree of Doctor of Law honoris causa in January 1988, and St. John’s University conferred upon Mr. Manzulli the Terrence Cardinal Cooke Award on April 26, 2000. Mr. Manzulli serves on a Congressional Committee to select students for United States Service Academies. |
