Michael Klockenga serves as Executive Vice President and Managing Director in the firm’s Overland Park, Kansas office. Additionally, he is Leader of the Paper & Packaging Industry Sector of the Worldwide Industrial Practice and a member of the Executive CommitteePrior to joining DHR in 1998, Mr. Klockenga enjoyed a successful twenty-five year career in engineering, operations, and general management with Fortune 500 companies. His industry experience includes glass, earth moving and agricultural equipment, aerospace, recreational products, and tools and hardware.Mr. Klockenga's early career was spent in quality engineering, process engineering, plant engineering, and line supervision at Raytheon, PPG Industries, and Caterpillar. He joined Sundstrand Aerospace in 1985 as Manager of Plant Engineering, and advanced to the position of Plant Manager, with responsibility for manufacturing plants in Nebraska and Colorado.In 1994, he became Vice President of Operations for Johnson Worldwide Associates, a $350 million international recreational products company. While at JWA, Mr. Klockenga was responsible for seven locations in the U.S.A, Canada, and Mexico. He served on the Executive Committee, and had full P&L responsibility for an electric motor business which supplied custom designed motors to OEM’s. Mr. Klockenga joined The Stanley Works in 1997 as Vice President of Operations for the Mechanics Tools Division. While at Stanley, he was responsible for eight locations in the U.S.A, Canada, and Europe, where he implemented lean manufacturing utilizing the Toyota Production System. Mr. Klockenga received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. Additionally, he received an M.B.A. from Illinois State University, and has attended executive management programs at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, holds multiple patents, and has taught electronics at the undergraduate level. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Thixotech, Inc., a manufacturing company based in Calgary, Alberta. Mr. Klockenga has been married for 22 years. He resides in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife and their two daughters. His hobbies include golf, alpine skiing, running, music, reading, and travel.
