Michael B. Galvin is a partner at Dwyer & Collora, LLP, who concentrates his practice on complex criminal and civil business litigation matters.
Mr. Galvin was recently recognized by Boston Magazine as a rising star among Massachusetts criminal defense practitioners. He represents individuals and entities in all phases of criminal and civil litigation including grand jury and agency investigations, civil and criminal discovery, trial preparations, trials, post-conviction litigation, sentencing, and appeals. His work involves a wide array of federal and state subject areas including health care, federal and state false claims, bank and securities fraud, kickbacks, tax evasion, campaign finance violations, public corruption, RICO, antitrust, perjury and obstruction of justice.
For years, Mr. Galvin has represented students involved in disciplinary matters at universities, colleges and schools. He also has defended medical doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists and chiropractors involved in criminal and ethical inquiries.
In 2006, Mr. Galvin served as a Special Assistant District Attorney assigned to trial sessions in Plymouth County, where he handled over 50 trials, including over 25 jury trials in state district court and litigated numerous pretrial motions.

In re Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly, No. 06-0612-H (Suffolk Sup. Ct.) (represented international contractor which was subject of state investigation for False Claims Act liability; in issue of first impression in Massachusetts, obtained order quashing extraterritorial subpoena).
United States v. Sperbeck, No. 96-cv- 10835-MLW (D. MA) (lead trial counsel on two-week jury trial involving allegations of defense contractor’s false claims to DOT; negotiated favorable settlement of claims).
Commonwealth v. Serra, No. 0501-CR-1744 (sole trial counsel for defendant accused of assault and battery stemming from business dispute; defendant acquitted after three day jury trial).
United States v. North Carolina’s Original Copy of the Bill of Rights, Civil Action No. 5:03-CV-204-BO (E.D.N.C.) (represented major antiques dealer involved alleged interstate transportation of stolen copy of the Bill of Rights; negotiated favorable resolution of allegations).
United States v. Prigmore, 243 F.3d 1 (1st Cir. 2001) (represented executive of medical device manufacturer charged with defrauding the FDA; conviction reversed; negotiated plea to misdemeanor).
United States v. Nippon Paper Indus. Co. Ltd., 62 F. Supp.2d 173 (D. MA 1999) (represented Japanese company charged with criminal price-fixing; court acquitted defendant after six week jury trial).
