Mike Rakes is a senior associate and head of the civil engineering department at Spectrum Design. Mike has experience in civil engineering project management and design, including site layout and planning, utility layout, topographic plans, environmental impact reviews, environmental site assessments, storm water management plans, erosion and sediment control plans, water treatment and distribution, and wastewater treatment and collection. His responsibilities include department supervision, communication with owners and architects, and preparation of reports, permit applications, design calculations, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and code compliance reviews. Mike graduated in 1989 with a BS in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. His professional affiliations include the Water Environment Federation and the American Water Works Association.
