Michael Doyle Biography :

Michael A. Doyle is president of Comcast Cable’s Eastern Division, the largest division of Comcast with more than 14,000 employees, 5.4 million video subscribers, 2.4 million High Speed Internet subscribers and a growing base of almost half a million Comcast Digital Voice customers. He is responsible for all operations and personnel throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, and for integrating close to a million new subscribers from Adelphia, Time Warner and Susquehanna acquisitions and transfers.

Doyle and his Division are most frequently first-to-market with new product introductions and trials, and Doyle has been instrumental in leading the company with Comcast Digital Voice rollouts and the successful promotion of Comcast’s first triple play bundle offer. Through the years, Doyle has played an integral role in developing and delivering new products and services such as two-way interactive cable, increased channel capacity, digital cable, high-speed Internet service, HDTV, video on demand and, most recently, Comcast Digital Voice.

In his role as president, Doyle is responsible for all internal and external facets of the Eastern Division and its five Regions. Doyle also created and continues to lead CN8, The Comcast Network, Comcast’s award-winning, 24-hour regional cable network. Now in its 10th year, CN8 reaches more than nine million homes throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic areas and has been recognized nationally for its quality regional programming with 314 Emmy nominations.

Doyle began his career with Comcast in 1983, and has led the company through numerous acquisitions, re-organizations and integration projects. For the last 15 years Doyle has run the largest and most competitive properties within Comcast, across virtually all geographies including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Ohio, California, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. Prior to joining Comcast, Doyle served as coordinator of state and local planning for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, Office of Cable Television. He also served as general manager of Times Mirror Cable Television in the City of Philadelphia and as director of operations for Consolidated Cable Systems.

Doyle is involved both personally and professionally in the cable industry and in the communities in which he lives and works. He served as chairman of the management committee of New England Cable News, a 50-50 partnership between Comcast and Hearst Corporation, and currently serves on the boards of the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) and Bresnan Communications. Under his leadership the Eastern Division has received numerous prestigious awards including Technology Company of the Year in NJ; Best Place to Work in DE, MA and NH, and Product of the Year for Comcast Digital Voice from the Massachusetts Network Communications Council.

Recognized for his humanitarian contributions, Doyle has been acknowledged by the Valerie Fund, a non-profit organization that supports comprehensive treatment for children with cancer, as well as Contact, the crisis and suicide prevention hotline. He was honored with the Rotarian Vocational Service Award and the Paul Harris Award for offering free Internet access to schools and libraries, and he and his wife, Lynn, received the Distinguished Communications Award for Excellence in Journalism from the International Association of Business Communicators. Doyle is also a board member of the Mommy’s Light Lives on Fund, an organization dedicated to bringing joy and comfort to children and teens by helping them keep alive traditions they shared with their mothers.

Doyle received his bachelor of arts from Drew University and is a member of the Drew University Athletic Hall of Fame where, after 29 years, he continues to hold several career and single season pitching records. Doyle and his wife, Lynn, have two daughters, Jennifer and Stefanie, and reside in Bucks County, PA and on Long Beach Island, NJ.
