Merton J. Segal is founder (1955), and Chairman of the Board of Meadowbrook Insurance Group (NYSE: MIG). Meadowbrook Insurance Group is a full-service risk management company and a leader in the field of Alternative Risk Management. Meadowbrook is an innovator in self-insurance, captives, pools, and special insurance programs, which have been endorsed by many trade and professional groups. The Company is Michigan's largest business insurance agency, and is ranked 21st among the top 100 United States Insurance Brokers. Meadowbrook currently numbers 600 employees in 16 offices nationwide. Mr. Segal also serves as chairman of Meadowbrook insurance carrier subsidiaries Star Insurance Company, and Savers Property & Casualty Insurance Company, Ameritrust Insurance Corporation, and Williamsburg National Insurance Company.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, Mr. Segal holds the designation of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), and is a Licensed Insurance Counselor (LIC). He has served as an advisor, consultant and board member of several industry and professional groups. He has been guest speaker at many insurance and financial industry functions. He is a recipient of the Michigan Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
