Meir established Legacy Benefits Corporation in 1991. As a pioneer in the settlement industry, he was a founding member and past-President of the Viatical and Life Settlement Association of America (VLSAA), currently known as the Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA), the largest trade association representing the majority of the viatical and life settlement firms in the U.S.
Meir was born in Argentina and emigrated to Israel in 1964, where he studied finance at Tel Aviv University and subsequently earned an MBA. He has over 30 years of international finance experience beginning in 1974 when he joined Bank Hapoalim, the largest Israeli bank, initially serving as Comptroller of one of the bank’s international banking subsidiaries. Subsequently, he was transferred to the U.S. to manage the bank’s new operation in California, which included responsibility for the bank’s operations on the west coast of the United States.
Prior to establishing Legacy Benefits Corporation, Meir joined a private conglomerate in New York, serving as the President and CEO of one of its banking subsidiaries and later as the CFO of the entire group, which dealt primarily in manufacturing and commercial leasing and trading. |
