Matthew McCloskey is an associate in the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department of the Boston office of McDermott Will & Emery LLP.
Matt’s practice includes patent prosecution, patent validity analysis, patent infringement analysis, and patentability analysis, as well as patent infringement litigation, intellectual property licensing and intellectual property aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions. He has experience developing and protecting intellectual property in a variety of fields, including antenna systems, semiconductor devices, semiconductor processing equipment, fiber-optics, medical devices and medical laser systems, speech recognition systems, high-power and communications laser systems, infrared imaging systems, spectroscopy systems, x-ray tomography, business methods and digital image processing.
Prior to joining the Firm, Matt was in private practice at a Boston area defense contactor where he focused on prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications and legal support for contracts with the Department of Defense.
Matt earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Tufts University in 2006, completing a project directed to microwave antenna designs based on fractal geometries. He also earned a Graduate Certificate in Photonics and Optoelectronic Devices with coursework in Semiconductor Physics and Modern Optics in 2003. During law school, Matt was an editor of RISK Law Journal from 2000-2001.
Matt is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
