Matthew Previn represents financial institutions in all stages of high-stakes and class action litigation in federal and state courts, both at the trial and appellate level. His practice focuses on the defense of financial institutions in consumer class action and retail financial services litigation. He has litigated cases arising under the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Housing Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and state unfair and deceptive acts and practices statutes. Mr. Previn has extensive experience enforcing consumer arbitration provisions in financial services agreements. Mr. Previn also counsels financial institutions on a variety of regulatory and compliance matters involving retail banking, including laws governing credit card lending, mortgage lending, consumer privacy, debt collection, and credit reporting. Professional Experience Prior to joining Buckley Kolar, Mr. Previn was Senior Counsel at HSBC Finance Corporation, where he provided regulatory advice and managed litigation for the bank credit card and private label credit card businesses. Before joining HSBC, Mr. Previn was a member of the financial institutions and litigation groups at WilmerHale. Following law school, Mr. Previn served as a law clerk to the Honorable Cornelia Kennedy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. |
